Week 14 Competition

It was hot sunny morning that greeted
us. With many athletes returning from holidays there were a lot of people out and about on the track. Works continue on the outside of the track - final finishing touches to be completed before next week. The sun was hot but the competition was hotter with many athletes achieving PBs this morning - I am sure we will see many athletes receiving their Bronze/Silver PB medals and soon Gold.

There are some great shots of our athletes out on the track - just go to our Photo Gallery for all the latest photos.

Next week is the Knox Open Twilight - this is one of the largest open days across the state with almost 500 athletes competing in some of the best competition. Details of the timetable of events will be available shortly on the Knox Little Athletics website. There will be some great activities for the family during the afternoon and evening, finishing with a spectacular fireworks display at 9pm. - Don’t miss it!!!

Today all athletes were given the entry form for the Knox Championship Day. This is our last day of competition for athletes and has been scheduled for Saturday 31st march 2012. Athletes can compete in only 4 events for U7-U11 and 5 events fro U/12 and above. Medals will be awarded to the first three place getters in each event and ribbons for 4th - 8th place getters. Entry forms must be submitted with payment to our club team managers by Saturday 25th February - no late entries will be accepted. Don’t miss out - this a great day for all athletes to compete in a friendly atmosphere in their favourite events - it is only open to Knox athletes. If you have not picked up your entry form please see one of our team managers. Entry fees are $
2.00 per event.

For those that are not competing at the Knox Open Twilight our next week of competition is Wednesday 15th February 2012 commencing at 6pm Sharp. This is due to the running of the Eastern Region Track & Field Championships being held at our Track over the following weekend. We will be running Program A. It is vital that all families that are rostered for Duty Program 3 are available to undertake their duty.

Good Luck to all our Fields athletes competing at the Knox Open Twilight!

Week 13 Competition

We returned to the track for the remainder of the 2011/2012 season. The weather whilst mostly overcast
remained fine for the morning - with some peaks of sunshine to come. As it was still summer holidays many families were still away so numbers were down a little. This didn’t hamper the spirits of the athletes competing, many on the new track fore the very first time. A number of Bronze and Silver PB medals were awarded today - the up to date list can now be found on the PB Results page.

There are over 100 photos of our athletes in action today - check out all the great athletics moments at our Photo Gallery Page.

Next week we have our first twilight for 2012. We are commencing at 6pm this Friday due to the State Relay Championships being held this Saturday at Albert Park Stadium. A number of Fields athletes will be competing as part of Team Knox - we wish everyone the very best of luck for the relays next week.

Don’t forget that all families listed for Duty Program 2 are required for duty this week - please ensure that you have registered and signed in at the duty table by 5.45pm.

Tomorrow is also the 2nd Knox working bee - all families that attend will have the $30 working bee levy money returned. Please bring any tools, gloves etc. that you think will be helpful for the morning. A BBQ lunch will be provided for everyone that attends.

See everyone next week!

Week 13 Competition & New Track Re-opens

Exciting news! The Knox track upgrade has been completed and the track was officially re-opened for use as of yesterday. This means that we are returning to competition this Saturday 21st January with the running of Program C. We hope to see many of our athletes back to try out the new surface.

As we have not had allocated to this program week in case the track had not been completed in time we will require a number of families to undertake duty this week. This is a great opportunity for families that are behind on duty to pick up an extra to ensure that they complete their duty quota for the season.

Don’t forget that there is also a Knox working bee this Sunday 22nd January. If attending this working bee the $30 working bee levy that all families paid at the beginning of the season will be refunded. There will also be another working bee close to the Knox Open Twilight.

The Knox Open Twilight entries close this saturday. Please ensure that if you are keen to run at this event that your entry is completed and returned by saturday.

We hope to see many families back at the track this saturday - see you there.

You may have seen some changes occurring around the track. All athletes will now have a barcode attached to their patch. This barcode will allow for a much quicker and seamless operation in recording athletes circular track and field events. In time it is hoped to have all recording areas able to undertake this process. Athletes will be issued with their barcodes over the next few weeks.
